We wholeheartedly serve in the name of Jesus: We share the burdens of others in our midst and around the world.
2019 Maine Inter-Generational Mission Trip (July 13th-20th)
Every other summer, Allentown Presbyterian Church has the great opportunity to head north to be the hands and feet of Jesus to families in impoverished pockets of Maine. Through a partnership with Mission At The Eastward, our church family spends a week helping people in need stay in their homes by completing necessary repairs they could not otherwise afford to do.
Some of the projects we have done over the years include building ramps to make homes accessible to residents with physical challenges. We have painted homes for widows. We have repaired floors, walls and roofs to insure families have a safe and warm place to live. We have provided home maintenance that elderly or disabled people are no longer able to do on their own.
Our teams are intergenerational with varied skill levels and spiritual gifts, but despite our differences or shortcomings, God always shows up to transform our ordinary efforts into something extraordinary. Extraordinary transformation occurs not only in the homes of those who we serve, but also in the hearts of those who are serving.
In addition to working together, we share family style meals, fun, fellowship and devotion time each day. We have VBS for children. We gather together at the end of the day to give thanks and to worship! Everyone is involved from the youngest to the oldest and this time of worship has become one of the most meaningful parts of the week for many of our missionaries.
Whether you are a high school student, a young family or a retiree, there’s a place for you on the Maine Mission! We encourage you to pray about joining our summer 2021 trip.
