We wholeheartedly serve in the name of Jesus: We share the burdens of others in our midst and around the world.
Maine Inter-Generational Mission Trip
Every other summer, Allentown Presbyterian Church has the great opportunity to head north on a mission trip through a partnership with the East & North Parish Housing Ministries. These ministries were created to help people in need stay in their homes by completing necessary repairs they could not otherwise afford to do. And so for one week, we share the love of Jesus with our brothers and sisters in the greater Farmington, Maine area by serving with our time, skills and sweat!
Some of the projects we have done in the past include building ramps to make homes accessible to residents with physical challenges, repairing floors, walls and roofs to provide families with a safe and warm place to live and providing home maintenance that elderly or disabled people are no longer to do on their own.
Our teams are intergenerational with varied skill levels and spiritual gifts, but despite our differences or shortcomings, God always shows up to transform our ordinary efforts into something extraordinary. Extraordinary transformation occurs not only in the homes of those who we serve, but also in the hearts of those who are serving.
In addition to our work days, we are “Under Construction” as well through fellowship and devotion time each day. We share meals together throughout the week and also gather for nightly services, which have become the highlight for many who attend. Our band leads worship, our staff shares the Word and the Spirit shows up in powerful ways!
Whether you are a high school student, a young family or a retiree, there’s a place for you on the Maine Mission! We encourage you to pray about joining our summer 2017 trip. Join us after worship on Sunday, January 22nd in Schulte Hall to learn more about this exciting opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ!
Next Trip: July 8-14, 2017
