Worship

Who we worship guides how we worship: Our services reflect God’s unique and creative nature.
Who we worship guides how we worship: Our services reflect God’s unique and creative nature.

Worship is the centerpiece of our spiritual lives.  Jesus taught us that to love God is the first and most important commandment; we do that when we worship.  Worship at APC is informal – don’t feel you have to get dressed up; just come.  Worship at APC is diverse – prepare to be surprised each week. Worship at APC is relevant – prepare to be taught and inspired each week.

Intergenerational

We believe our children and youth are not only the future of the church: They are vital to the church of today.
We believe our children and youth are not only the future of the church: They are vital to the church of today.
APC is a church that loves kids. We have one of the largest and most outstanding ministries to young disciples in New Jersey. Jesus taught that we are all God’s children and that you don’t have to be old enough to know and follow Him.  There are many opportunities to become involved whether it be through our Little Tree Preschool, children’s ministries, youth and young adult ministry, or family ministry.

Spiritual Growth

We believe faith is a journey, not a destination: Fellow travelers welcome.
We believe faith is a journey, not a destination: Fellow travelers welcome.

We are all at different places on our spiritual journey.  Whether you are a skeptic, a new believer, or seasoned Christ-follower, there are many opportunities to grow in your relationship with Jesus at APC.  Check out all of the classes for adults as well as age specific classes for students of all ages.

Welcome to Allentown Presbyterian Church where we are Growing in Christ! Our mission is to help you and your family grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. Even though APC has been around for a long time, almost 300 years, we are a church with a youthful spirit and a deep love for one another and for God. Whether you are just checking out Christianity, or are a seasoned believer; whether you are two years old or ninety-two, you will find ministries to help you grow more and more to become the person God created you to be. Worship with us on Sunday at Worship 8:30 and 11:00 AM. Christian Education for all ages starts at 9:30am.

Christmas Past, Present and Future

Christmas Past, Present and Future

This Advent we will explore the temporal dimensions of the incarnation by looking at Christmas Past, Present and Future.  Like the ghosts in Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol, we will take a journey through time and space to see the way in which our understanding of Christmas has changed and in turn, has changed us.

December 1: Who is the ONE Who is Coming? Preaching: Don Lacrosse

Dec 8: Christmas Past What can we learn about Christmas from the prophecies of the Messiah?  The expectation and longing for the Messiah was a consistent theme in the Hebrew scriptures and continues to inspire us as those hopes were fulfilled in such an unexpected way.

December 15: Christmas Present The birth of Jesus was the beginning of a new age that continues to the present. The continued power of the incarnation and the presence of Christ with the church today is the reason for the season.

December 22: Christmas Future The church continues to wait in eager longing for the return of the King.  This future dimension of our faith keeps us alert and awake, even and especially in the darkest of times. There is no Christian Education this day.

December 24: What We Can Learn From Scrooge The story of Ebenezer Scrooge is one of the greatest of all tales and raises the question, “Can anyone really change?” Worship at APC on Christmas Eve 7, 9 and 11 pm and find out.

December 29: One service only at 9:30 am.  There is no Christian Education this day.
