Sermon Series: What Are You Waiting For?
Scripture: Luke 2:25-35
Sermon: Watching and Waiting
Preacher: Rev. Lindsay Anderson-Beck
Waiting is often viewed as an inconvenience, yet it is an inescapable part of the human experience. This message explores the life of Simeon, a man who faithfully waited for the Messiah, to reveal how "in-between" seasons shape the soul. Rather than just a delay, waiting becomes a transformative ground where character is forged. Discover how to find purpose in the pause and experience God’s sustaining presence.
Faithwork Assignment: Consider the season of waiting you are currently in. Instead of viewing it as wasted time, recognize it as an active season where God is shaping your character. Reflect on whether this time is causing bitterness or if it is an opportunity to grow in patience and love. Remember that God is often more interested in who you are becoming during the wait than the destination itself. Ask yourself how your heart is being transformed while you stand in the "in-between." Finally, find comfort in knowing you do not wait alone. The Holy Spirit is present to sustain you, so seek to find rest in God's presence even if your deepest longings remain unfulfilled.

Advent Sermon Series - What Are You Waiting For:
The hymn, "O Come O Come Emmanuel" captures the spirit of advent. It tells of the deep longing for God to break into the world; a longing that was met with the birth of Jesus. This longing continues, as we wait with expectation for Jesus to come again, and again. Join us this advent as, along with the prophets of old, we await the coming of the Messiah.
