Christian Education

We believe faith is a journey, not a destination: Fellow travelers welcome.

The mission of the Allentown Presbyterian Church is: In response to the grace of God, our mission is to grow a community of fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ to produce abundant spiritual fruit for the Kingdom of God.

We understand that we are all at different places on our spiritual journey.  Whether you are a skeptic, a new believer, or seasoned Christ-follower, there are many opportunities to grow in your relationship with Jesus at APC. We offer Christian Education classes, Small Groups, weekly programs, retreats, and many other fellowship opportunities.

Our hope is that these programs will spark your interest and ignite within you a deeper awareness of the spiritual issues of our time, a deeper understanding of God’s teachings in the Scriptures, and a deeper love of Jesus Christ.

Adults

Adult Ed

Adult Ed meets every Sunday from September to May, from 9:45 - 10:45 am in Schulte Hall (refreshments available from 9:30 am). We have a variety of classes and teachers scheduled and cover a range of topics which aim to help us consider and discover how to live the way of Jesus in our world today.

Small Groups

Small Groups meet 3-4 times a month on campus or in peoples’ homes, and use the sermon series as a guide for discussion and reflection. We have several groups that are geared toward particular demographic, meet online, or follow different curriculum based on their interests.

Men's Ministry

On Wednesday mornings from 6:45 am - 8:00 am the men of APC gather at Crossroads Youth Center for a light breakfast and Bible Study. Men are welcome to join, at any time.

We also have an annual men's retreat to Avalon, NJ, each fall.

women's Ministry

L.I.F.T. (Ladies In Faith Together) offers a variety of events throughout the year, as well as an annual retreat to provide ways for women to make friends, grow in Christ, and share their unique gifts with others.

Coffee Talk meets at Crossroads on Thursday mornings from 9:30 am - 11:15 am for a time of fellowship, food and Bible Study.

Children (PreK-5th grade) meet Sundays 9:45 am - 10:45 am. Drop off at 9:30 in Schulte Hall.
Pick up at their assigned classrooms.

Communion Classes will be held for the 2023-2024 Second Grade class throughout the year. Children who are new to our Sunday School after 2nd grade are welcome to participate in the Communion Class.

Stepping Stones

Our Stepping Stones program, designed children in 1st and 2nd grade, meets on Thursdays from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. We will gather in Schulte Hall at 20 High Street and then move to the balconies overlooking the Little Tree lawn and playground. We hope to spark an interest in musical discovery, teach children the fundamentals of music, help them identify their God-given gifts, hear Bible stories and learn simple Biblical truths, and involve them in age-appropriate Service Projects.  This program, which is “more than a choir,” is a “stepping stone” on their faith journey which is also a step toward participation in our ROCK program as we mix Bible stories, crafts, games, and service into the weekly format!

R.O.C.K.

Our ROCK (Rock On Christian Kids) program, designed for kids in 3rd through 5th grade, meets weekly on Thursdays from  5:00-7:30 pm in Schulte Hall.

Each night we share a game, a Bible study, a craft, and a home cooked meal. During the last hour of the night, the children participate in either the ROCK Choir or the ROCK Caring Kids groups.  The Choir kids learn worship songs, learn about leading worship, and prepare for Christmas Eve worship and will deliver a musical message in the Spring.   Our music plans also include chimes, xylophones, and drums! The Caring Kids learn about serving others, in kid-appropriate ways, locally and internationally.

Young Children

Nursery

KinderWorship

We provide Nursery care for children aged birth to 3 years old on Sundays from 8:15 am - 12:15 pm. Loving and consistent care is provided by devoted adult volunteers.
The Nursery is located on the lower level of the Education building.
After the children’s message in worship, children in PreK (age 4) through 1st grade are invited to attend KinderWorship which provides supervised child care through the end of worship.  During this time, the children can play, color, watch a Christian movie, listen to music, and enjoy a light snack.
KinderWorship is held in the Nursery on the lower level of the Education building.

Little Tree Preschool

Little Tree’s programs are developed with the goal of providing each child with the best possible first experience away from their parents.
Our curriculum is based on Christian values which assist our students in developing the self-confidence they need for success. Our bright and cheerful classrooms encourage our students to become actively involved in learning by touching and exploring the world around them. Little Tree Preschool’s age appropriate playground provides children the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills as they climb, play and interact with their peers.
Little Tree Preschool is proud to offer developmentally appropriate programs for all children regardless of their religious beliefs.
