Sermon: Why Do You Call Me Good?

Preacher: Kevin Heide

Ever feel like you're working hard to be "good enough" but still feel like you're falling short? In this sermon, we looked at the story of the rich man who asked Jesus what he needed to do to get eternal life. Jesus's answer turns our idea of earning salvation on its head. It’s not about what we can accomplish, but about what God has already accomplished for us through His love. It's a shift from trying to earn a reward to simply accepting a gift. What does it look like in your life to stop trying to earn God's love and instead live in response to it? #ChildlikeFaith #GraceNotWorks

Faithwork:

Salvation cannot be earned through our own efforts; with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Are there areas in your life where you are trying to earn God's approval instead of resting in what He has already done for you?

We are called to receive the kingdom of God with childlike faith—accepting His grace as a gift, not something to be earned. How does viewing your relationship with God as a free gift, rather than a checklist to complete, change your perspective today?

Following Jesus means being willing to surrender what is most precious to us and trust Him completely. What "precious thing" or area of control might God be asking you to surrender in order to follow Him more closely?

Summer Sermon Series: That's a Great Question.

Jesus was a rabbi, a teacher. One of the most impactful ways to teach is to ask great questions. Jesus asked great questions - lots of them. By one count there are over 40 questions asked by Jesus. Questions invite students to think and grow. Join us this summer at APC as we wrestle with some of the probing questions asked by the Master teacher-Jesus.
