“We have come to know love by this: that Jesus laid down his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians… Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth”
1 John 3: 16-18
As we strive to live into our calling towards Racial Justice as a church, we have assembled a Working Committee on Racial Justice. This committee works to discern God’s wisdom in this complex issue by trying to incorporate a diversity of voices. We have constructed three subcommittees working on educational opportunities, relationship building, and missions and ministries.
Education Subcommittee
The first subcommittee will be working to create educational materials, choosing an adult education course curriculum, and making sure we are educating ourselves about the role of race in the lives of so many Americans and the continued fight against racism that is waged everyday.
Relationships Subcommittee
The second subcommittee’s focus is on diverse relationship building through developing partnerships with more diverse churches and communities of color in our area, supporting one other in ministry.
Missions and Ministry Subcommittee
The last subcommittee is currently focused on organizing APC’s online presence and outreach so that our commitment to justice is clear and in order to better distribute information and resources surrounding racial justice.
